Summer!

I’m finally done with my school year, which means I’m accepting translation requests again. :D

Quick reminder:
—Please keep it to one or two song requests at a time, since less songs per person means I can take requests from more people.
—This is primarily an idol lyric translation blog, so mainly idol song requests, please.
—My audio retention rate sucks, so I can’t really translate songs with only concert performances or partial radio rips out. Unreleased songs with MVs already out are usually doable, though. :D

If you submitted a request before today, I’ve deleted it, sorry. Feel free to re-request if you still want the song, though, and I’ll do my best to fill it. :)

Koi no Prison (“Love’s Prison”)

I point my love gun at you and all of a sudden I’m the one being aimed at
You put handcuffs on my heart, and I’m off to love’s prison
I’m taking the blame for your crime and doing the time
So give me lifelong imprisonment in love

Shabondama (“Soap Bubbles”)

What, you didn’t really think I wouldn’t post a Reina song on her grad day, did you?

The only person I love is you
I won’t let anyone get in the way
We’re wrapped up in our own little bubble of love
You belong only to me

“But then, where did you go!?”

Anonymous asked:

Q: About UFP starting to sub stuff, I hear a lot of people complain about the hilarious-bad translations. As someone who actually knows Japanese, does the quality of subs on the videos bug you?

Not at all.

I’m obviously an amateur, so I’d kind of be a hypocrite if it did. But anyone who’s actually tried their hand at translating stuff as short and compact as song lyrics will tell you that it’s really, really hard. It gets even harder when you translate stuff from your native tongue to a foreign one, because then you’re trying to explain a culture and language you know in terms of a culture and language that you don’t.

I’ve heard fans say they should get better translators or a native speaker to quality-check translations, but given the complexities of hiring on that kind of person on a long-term scale JUST to sub music videos, I understand why UFP doesn’t.
